Classes 3-8 visit the World Book Fair
On 12 and 13 February 2024, students of classes 3 to 5 and 6 to 8, respectively, embarked on an enriching excursion to the World Book Fair held at Pragati Maidan. This excursion aimed to foster a love for reading, promote literary skills and expose students to a diverse range of literature from around the globe.
Prior to the excursion, students were briefed about the importance of books and the significance of the World Book Fair. They were encouraged to explore various genres and cultures through literature. On the day of the excursion, students gathered at School accompanied by their teachers and set out for the fair. Upon arrival, the students were greeted by the vibrant atmosphere of the book fair. This year it was inaugurated on February 10, 2024 with the theme, ‘Multilingual India ( Bahubhashi Bharat) – A Living Tradition’. Over 500 publishers and independent booksellers from all over the world were exhibiting at this year's fair. The children eagerly navigated the sprawling stalls, each adorned with a plethora of books ranging from fiction to non-fiction, children's literature to academic texts. Guided by their teachers, the students actively participated in active book browsing, engaging in discussions, and discovering new authors and titles.
The excursion proved to be a valuable learning experience for students across all age groups. They learned about different cultures, traditions, and perspectives through literature. Additionally, students developed essential skills such as communication, collaboration, and information literacy. The exposure to a wide array of books also ignited their curiosity for reading.
The visit to the World Book Fair was a resounding success, and left a lasting impact on the students. It served as a catalyst for intellectual growth, cultural understanding, and personal development. As we departed from the fair, the students carried with them not just books, but memories and inspirations that will shape their literary journey for the years to come.
