Classes 1 and 2 take an excursion to Bal Bhavan

"Field trips provide authentic, hands'-on, and experiential learning opportunities where students can connect what they are learning in the classroom to a real-world context."

 - Stephanie Smith Rudhai

School excursions are not just trips; they are adventures that ignite curiosity, spark friendships, and create memories that last a lifetime. Keeping this in mind, an excursion was organised on September 27, 2024, for the students of classes 1 and 2 to the National Bal Bhavan.

Located in the heart of Delhi, National Bal Bhavan is a beautiful, lush green space for children. Established in 1956 by the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the center aims to nurture and enhance the creative abilities of young children by providing them with an interactive environment filled with engaging activities and interesting opportunities suited to their age group, abilities, and aptitudes.

By combining activities in the arts, literature, and photography with an informative museum, the centre offers children a unique opportunity to express themselves and develop their ideas.

To begin with, the laughing mirror section was a perfect blend of entertainment and learning. Students took great delight in seeing funny reflections of themselves while also getting introduced to an understanding of concepts such as concave and convex mirrors, reflections, and general science.

Thereafter, the students learned about the stories of warriors at the Gaurav Gatha Museum. They gathered information about the cultures of different countries through the medium of dolls and various tableaux. The group was happy to visit the art and craft gallery, where the exhibits showcased a diverse array of creativity. From innovative craftwork utilising waste materials to intricate printings and clay modeling, there was something to inspire everyone. The students were particularly captivated by the breathtaking collection of paintings and crafts that reflect India’s glorious past, offering a vivid glimpse into the country’s rich cultural heritage.

The experience was not only educational but also sparked their imaginations, encouraging them to think about art in new and meaningful ways.

Visiting the aquarium on the museum grounds made the children blush with joy as they pressed their faces against the glass, pointing excitedly at the different species swimming in the water.

Next, the group visited the traffic park located on the campus. They were briefed on the dos and don'ts of driving and walking carefully on the road. The students also took a pledge on ‘Road Safety’. The road safety activity proved to be highly informative as they learned about traffic rules and road signs.

The next stop was the mini bird zoo, which was a vibrant paradise of color and sound. As the children entered, their eyes widened with wonder at the sight of brilliant feathers—blues, greens, and yellows all mingling together. The air was filled with cheerful chirps and whistles, with each bird showcasing its unique call.

Soon, it was time to board the bus. By the time the students reached School, their hearts were filled with wonder, and they could not stop chattering about their favorite observations, already dreaming of future visits to explore more of the place!
