Class 5A engages online with Israeli peers
On 9th December 2024, the students of class 5A, accompanied by their class teacher, Ms Parminder Kaur Anand, participated in an enriching Skype session with Ms Shirly Perez Berghmans, an educator at Merhav School, and her students at a school in ....., Israel. The aim of the session was to enhance the students' knowledge of the traditions, festivals, currencies, languages, capitals, and cuisine from across the globe, through a collaborative exchange between primary students in India and Israel.
The session fostered in-depth understanding and sparked curiosity among the students. It commenced with riddles related to different countries, where one of the partner schools provided clues for the other to identify a country. This activity heightened the engagement and enthusiasm.
Both groups creatively introduced different countries through presentations. Our students highlighted facts about Hong Kong, Belgium, Israel, France, the United States, and Japan, while the partner school showcased Belgium, Morocco, and Israel. A lively discussion followed, focusing on the popular sweetmeats eaten in these countries.
Our students presented iconic Indian sweets such as gulab jamun, kulfi, jalebi, and malpua, mentioning the states where they are most popular. They also shared recipes and explained the significance of these sweets eaten at festivals and other occasions. The brochures created by our students about the countries presented captivated the Israeli students.
The partner school described the popular sweets of three countries and showcased them creatively. The session concluded on a festive note, with students joyfully tapping to Christmas carols, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere filled with music and laughter.
In the interactive Q&A segment, students exchanged questions about each other's schools and culture, broadening their horizons and fostering cross-cultural understanding. The session proved to be a successful platform for exploring the festivals, currencies, languages, and capitals of different countries while celebrating the spirit of collaboration and learning.
