Celebration through Art - An Inter-House Competition

The Indian School-Second Shift organized a creative activity session on August 17th, 2024. It was an inter-house competition conducted by Mars House, focusing on card making and wall hangings on the significance of Raksha Bandhan and Janamashtami. The event aimed to engage students in creative expression while deepening their understanding of the cultural and religious importance of these festivals.

Students from classes 1-5 eagerly participated in the card-making activity, where they had the option to design cards for either Raksha Bandhan or Janmashtami. Meanwhile, students from classes 6-10 showcased their skills in a wall-hanging competition, with decorations inspired by traditional Indian art related to these festivals. The classrooms buzzed with excitement as students meticulously worked on their projects, using vibrant colours, glitter, beads, and other decorative material.

The wall-hanging activity was equally engaging, with students creating beautiful decorations such as Rakhi designs, peacock feathers, symbols of Lord Krishna, and intricate patterns of the flute, the cow and flowers. The use of eco-friendly materials was encouraged, promoting sustainability alongside creativity.

The teachers guided the students through the session, offering tips on design and technique. The atmosphere was filled with innovativeness as students shared ideas and helped each other, reflecting the spirit of teamwork and collaboration.

The best creations were selected by the judges and awarded e-certificates. Overall, the event was a memorable celebration of creativity, culture, and devotion, allowing students to connect with both festivals in a meaningful way while showcasing their artistic talents.
