Celebrating the values of Lord Ganesha 17th -19th September 2023

"To celebrate a festival means: to live out, for some special occasion and in an uncommon manner, the universal assent to the world as a whole."  Josef Pieper

Ganesh Chaturthi is dedicated to the Lord of new beginnings,  Ganesha, and is celebrated every year across the country with great devotion and festivity. Lord Ganesha is considered to be the remover of obstacles as well as the god of wisdom and intelligence. The festival is marked by the installation of Ganesha idols in homes and magnificent temporary public altars (locally called 'pandals').

The tiny tots of Pre school and the  Pre primary alongwith their art teacher listened to tales of Lord Ganesha and  crafted an eco-friendly idol. They were them told that the immersion of the clay idol should be done only in a minimal amount of water so as not to waste or pollute the river or sea. At The Indian School-Second Shift, we believe in nurturing not only the creative talents of our students but also their sense of responsibility towards the environment, and this initiative towards a greener planet not only celebrates tradition but also emphasises the importance of sustainability. The activies also fostered in the students a sense of camaraderie and teamwork. They got an opportunity to learn from each other in a supportive learning environment.

The festival was observed across the classes at School. Pre school and Pre primary happily sang the 'Bal Ganesha' song. The students of classes 3-5 designed creative cards. A soulful rendition of the 'Ganesha Aarti' was performed by the students of classes 6 to 8 to honour the god of wisdom, while a graceful 'Ganesh Vandana' invocation dance was presented by the students of class 9.

Through these activities our students got a chance to connect with India's culture and tradition. Meanwhile, the celebration catered to our objective of keeping the spirit of festivals ignited in all, which promotes unity, charity, faith and love.
