Diwali, a time to rejoice in togetherness, signifies the spiritual triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. The students of The Indian School – Second Shift joyfully participated in Diwali celebrations with their teachers, engaging in various activities.
Pre schoolers marked the festival by singing the song 'Deep Jalao...' and attentively absorbed the tale of Diwali, understanding the significance of celebrating without bursting crackers. They showcased their painting skills by intricately decorating diyas.
Pre primary students enthusiastically took part in a creative Diwali activity, painting vibrant diyas with unique designs. Their joy-filled faces reflected the fostering of tradition and celebration while honing the fine motor skills. These adorned diyas not only illuminated the classrooms but also symbolised the spirit of togetherness and festivity during Diwali.
Students of classes 1 and 2 celebrated the festival of lights by painting and decorating diyas with bright acrylic colours and creative patterns using recycled materials. They were shown an advertisement emphasizing the purchase of handmade diyas and traditional items from local artisans, encouraging support for skilled craftsmen.
Teachers of classes 3 to 5 raised awareness about waste management during festivals. Students made clay diyas and decorated them with recycled materials to celebrate Diwali.
A discussion with the students of classes 6 to 10 addressed the rising pollution levels in Delhi, urging them to celebrate a ‘Green Diwali’. They crafted handmade lanterns with coloured paper for Diwali decorations at home and sang the song 'Aai Diwali Deep Jalao' to enhance the festive spirit.
This celebration at School made our students not only learn about environmental conservation but also encouraged them to support local craftsmanship for a greener and cleaner indigenous Diwali.
