Campaign for a Green Diwali in Pre primary and Primary classes
‘Save the Environment, Say No to Crackers
Diwali is a festival of lights, not of fumes and firecrackers. On 2 November a special campaign was held to explain to the children the importance of conserving our precious environment. To ingrain this value, the students of the Pre-Primary department made beautiful posters on the theme. They also sang melodious rhymes to match the context.
The Primary students observed Pollution Prevention Day by discussing the hazards of air pollution and how seriously it can damage our health. A video relating to the same was also shown to them. The children made posters on the topic 'Green Diwali' depicting the importance of celebrating an eco-friendly and cracker-free Diwali.
The children were sensitised towards the adverse effects of firecrackers on our precious environment and took a pledge to save it from pollution and not use firecrackers.
They also discussed the harmful effects of crackers on the environment and composed the slogan ‘Green Diwali Happy Diwali’ ‘Is Baar No Patakha, No Dhoom, No Dhadaka’.
A classroom debate on "Say No to Fire Crackers and ways to prevent pollution. The students crafted eco-friendly diyas and festive decorations. Noise pollution following the bursting of crackers was also condemned.
Students were encouraged to celebrate a Green Diwali by lighting diyas and candles. They were also cautioned about avoiding large gatherings during pandemic time.
