Annual Day 2022

“An understanding of the natural world and what’s in it is a source of not only a great curiosity but great fulfillment.” —David Attenborough

The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated Annual Day 2022 ‘Antardhwani’ on 15 December 2022. Students from the primary wing to senior school, participated in this mega event displaying their innate creative talent in the field of dance, drama and music. The School got a complete facelift with all the areas artistically decorated, to manifest the theme ‘Reclaiming my Planet.’

Ms Purnima Datt, Principal Director of Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS) at the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) graced the occasion as chief guest. Other guestd included Dr (Mrs) Nayana Goradia, Ms Brinda Goradia Shroff, Chairperson of the School Managing Committee, Ms Madhavi Divan, member of the School Governing Board and members of the PT. A warm welcome was accorded to all guests by School Principal, Ms Tania Joshi.

In a magnificent display of creative splendour, the occasion commenced with the school choir presenting soul-stirring music steeped in rich culture and traditionalism. The choir also sang songs ‘Ghir Ghir aayi re’, ‘Ek Diya Baati’, ‘Phoolon ne jaake Boondon se pucha’ through the sonorous beats of various musical instruments. The budding singers sang with intense fervour to convey that their conviction to make this world a better place is unshakeable.

The audio-visual display of the drama depicted ‘Mother Earth’ and its degeneration as the evil forces overpowered over the years. The euphoric dances performed by the students depicted the creation of Earth, a cosmic marvel. The dances highlighted the tribes, life on Earth, the discovery of the wheel, Bihu, Karakaattam, water and animal dance sequences. The talent and the confidence of the young performers kept the audience spellbound throughout the presentation.

The icing on the cake was the grand finale where students danced to the tune of the acclaimed song ‘Aashayein khile dil ki, Ummeedein hasein dil ki’ which reverberated across the field with a jubilant fervour.

To conclude, Ms Joshi offered a vote of thanks followed by the singing of the School song. Every aspect of the occasion was meticulously planned with participants energetically executing these in harmony. The spectacular performances were received with a standing ovation from the audience.
