Activities inspired by the Tokyo Olympics
The Olympic Games not only have a significant role and impact in the world of sport, but also in the cultural sphere. The Games involve over 200 nations around the globe every four years, uniting people internationally. It is the foremost sports competition in the world.
The Winter and Summer Olympics are held alternately as well. The sports that are included are the ones that the International Olympic Committee has registered.
This year the event took place in Tokyo. In pursuance of the opening ceremony of Tokyo Olympic Games, the students at The Indian School-Second Shift participated in various activities recommended by Directorate of Education during 23 July to 8 August 2021.
Our Pre-schoolers learned the importance of sports and exercise. They made craft depicting the Olympics mascot using ear buds.
Class 1 students made placards to learn about the logo and the mascot of the Tokyo Olympics - Miraitowa. They were briefed on the relevance of the mascot through videos.
Students of class 2 were enlightened about the Tokyo Olympics through informative power point presentations and videos. The students drew the Olympic flag and were acquainted with the accomplishments that India has made at the Olympics.
Students of class 3 were shown a video and engaged in a discussion on the Tokyo Games in 2021. The students gave presentations and discussed the achievements of the Indian athletes in their news' club.
Students of class 4 made vivid and graphical posters on the theme of the Tokyo Olympics 2021, vis "United by Emotion".
The goal of the Olympic Movement is to build a peaceful and better world by educating the youth through sport practiced without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity, and fair play.
