A Visit to the Zoo

The zoo is a place where we can see different animals and birds at one place. It has great attraction particularly amongst children.

Students at The Indian School-Second Shift are exposed to a variety of activities and field trips with the objective of sensitising them early about the animal kingdom about which they learn in the classroom. Pre-primary students were therefore taken to the zoo on 13 January, 2019.

In great excitement students sighted numerous animals which they had only seen on their television sets. From hyenas, to alligators, crocodiles and deer etc. students got a chance to closely observe each specie present. Upon spotting the White Tiger, they looked in awe and excitedly whispered their observations to each other! They then walked past the enclosures of the hippopotamus, elephants and the fox. Our little ones beamed with joy as the monkeys leapt in frolic from one branch of the tree to another.

Not confined to animals, the students saw some never- seen- before birds like the emu, hornbill, and crane. So enamoured were they in the environs that the children were reluctant to return! On the journey back to School, they animatedly exchanged their observations of the field trip.

This visit distinctly bridged the learning in the classroom with real life experience in a fun way.
