India is a vast country, with a diversity of unique cultural identities. Its beauty lies in its mystical lands, ranging from mountains to valleys, from seas to deserts, which articulate its pristine beauty and innate charm. National symbols are the reason for its unique identity and heritage, which bring a sense of pride and patriotism to the hearts of Indian citizens, presenting its unique image to the world.
This year too, India's 72nd Republic Day was observed at TFS, on 25th January, 2021, albeit online.
To remember the valuable contributions made by our leaders, special assemblies were conducted across the classes.
The students of Pre-School celebrated the occasion with the timeless song, 'We Shall Overcome'. Two students sang, "I Salute My Flag" and "Saare Jahan Se Achcha". They were dressed n colourful attire and also spoke a few lines on the rich culture and heritage of the different states of India. There was a solo dance performance on the song, "Ae Watan Mere Abaad Rahe Tu", followed by a group dance on a medley of popular patriotic songs.
Pre Primary observed Republic Day in enthusiasm and in a spirit of patriotism. The children spoke about its significance, dressed in the colours of the tri-colour while some others came dressed as our freedom fighters-Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Rani Laxmi Bai, Mangal Pandey, Mahatma Gandhi and others. The students also sang patriotic songs Later, the children handcrafted badges depicting iur national flag of our country.
The students of class I celebrated the occasion with an intra-class quiz based on Indian constitution, the parade at Rajpath and our national symbols.
The students of class II sang the national anthem at a virtual flag hoisting ceremony undertaken by the teachers. The children recited poems which expressed their love for the motherland. Students dressed as freedom fighters spoke about the beliefs and teachings of these great leaders. The students of all the three sections of class II showcased a spectacular dance performance to patriotic songs such as 'Desh mera rangeela'. The music and the endearing performances of the young dancers lent to the patriotic mood.
The students of class III to V participated in a combined assembly. Students of class IV wore tricolour headgear and held aloft the national flag to commemorate the day. At the assembly they were shown an animated video on Republic day celebrations. Teachers acquainted the students with the significance of the occasion and reminded them of their responsibilities towards the nation as her future citizens.
The students of class VI presented a role play on our freedom fighters. A dance performance set to a patriotic song, highlighted the rich culture and diversity of our country.
Classes VII and VIII were shown videos which shared interesting facts about Republic Day. This was followed by a debate on the Freedom of Speech. The motion for the debate was “Are we allowed to speak anything we wish to?” It was fascinating to listen to the varying opinions. The essence of the occasion was further conveyed by students who spoke about the significance of Republic Day and the celebrations associated with it.
