Citizenship Programme activity- Demonstration of Compost- making at a nearby SDMC school
‘Recycle all Recyclable items and make the EARTH GREENER and CLEANER………’
This is the motto that we follow at The Indian School-Second Shift and to achieve this, numerous activities are conducted from time to time. On 7th August 2019, the students of class IV ( Suhana, Attyaksh and Shaumik ) visited the neighbourhood municipal school with their Citizenship teachers, Ms. Sangeeta Aswani and Ms. Neeti Gupta.
It was a pleasant day and the surroundings at the SDMC school were green and lively. The team was welcomed by the staff there. Our students carried with them planters and ‘Kambh’, a PVC pipe with perforations used for composting.
The students demonstrated the process of Composting using the Kambh that enables in the aerobic decomposition of vegetable/fruit peel, dry leaves, wet leaves and other renewable resources. The children explained the process and then reinforced it with the help of a Hindi poem! The children of the municipal school also participated in the exercise by adding peels of vegetables and fruit that they had carried from home for the purpose. The students recited a small jingle on composting that was liked by all.
Later, everyone enjoyed a cool Frooti!
It was an exciting event for the students of both the schools as visible from the involvement seen.
