SUBJECT: SDG#6: CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION
GUEST: MS Khanh Ly Cao with her students at Nguyen Hien Primary School, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
DATE: 8th November, 2019
The students of class III of The Indian School-Second Shift interacted in a skype session with the Nguyen Hien Primary School in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on 15 May, 2019. The teachers on both sides, of the screen guided the children to collaborate and discuss the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal #6: CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION.
The session commenced with both the schools holding up the flags of their countries and enthusiastically greeting each other. The eagerness was evident in the eyes of the young learners as they commenced the session by playing Mystery Skype.
Holding colorful posters and placards, students of both the schools spoke their views and concerns about the health hazards associated with a limited access to clean water, sanitation facilities and a hygienic environment. Our students discussed how to tackle the problems faced by the absence of an access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all. It was interesting to observe the extent of eagerness amongst the students to know and learn more from each other so as to do more to help the environment!
An engaging and educative Kahoot quiz designed imhouse was played and enjoyed by the students.. The high scores in the game kept our students in high spirits! A pledge, especially composed for SDG#6 by our students was recited in unison.
It was indeed a stimulating and informative session for both the groups of children.
The session concluded with both the teams reluctantly parting but with an assurance to spread alertness about the importance of unpolluted water and proper sanitation.
