International Yoga Day observed across the classes
On 21 June 2022 “International Yoga Day” was observed at The Indian School-Second Shift in great enthusiasm. All the students of Pre – School to IX participated in various activities through the day. The foremost priority is to provide a holistic approach toward preserving the health and well being of our students.
In the pursuit of the above, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, the students of Pre School and Pre Primary performed various yoga postures like the cat pose, thr mountain pose, rainbow pose etc. They also attempted pranayama and meditation. Through the session students were educated about the benefits of yoga and the need to remain healthy and fit.
Classes 2 & 3 observed the day with great enthusiasm too. Simple asanas like the Sukhasana, the Vajrasana, Titliasana and the rainbow postures were performed by the students along with their family members at home.
The students of classes 3 to 5 were excited and energetic while performing the yoga asanas. They started with meditation and did the Dhanurasana, the Trikonasana etc that require focus and balance. They were shown videos sharing the importance of yoga during a class room activity.
Students of classes 6 to 9 acknowledged the importance of yoga as a traditional Indian method of keeping one’s heart, mind and soul in alignment while actively participating in yoga lessons demonstrated by teachers during the class room activity. Various poses and their multiple advantages were also discussed in the form of a PPT in one of classroom discussions. The students were encouraged to practice yoga regularly to remain fit and improve concentration as all the classes showcased very energetic and spirited performances!
