Awareness Workshop on Junk Food and Drug Addiction

The Indian School-Second Shift prioritises the safety of its students. Keeping this in mind, a workshop on the harmfulness of junk food and drug addiction was organised on 17 February 2021 for the students of classes 3-8. The pantomime show was conducted by Mr Arijit Roy, Director of Jagran Live Visual Communication, under the aegis of the Delhi Police.

Mr Roy and his team familiarised the students with the various side effects of eating junk and oily food through a fun-filled enactment. He stated the importance of the intake of healthy food items in our daily diet.

The students were overjoyed to watch the pantomime between the father and his son who preferred to eat fast food! The monster approached him each time he ate an unhealthy dish. Due to a deficiency in essential nutrients, he couldn’t fight back. But, when he started to eat wholesome meals, they empowered him to defeat the junk food monster which represented its aftermath such as heart disease, digestive system disorders and other related diseases.

The act aided our students to realise the benefits of green leafy vegetables and fruit which are a rich source of proteins and vitamins. They boost immunity and help in effective digestive functioning.
Another emotional mime, creating awareness on drug addiction was showcased. The enchanting play captured the attention of the energised online and offline participants. The students were told to be wise while choosing friends as well as to trust and listen to their family members and teachers when they guide them for their betterment.

The consequences of blindly believing people, was exhibited in the performance. The meaningful pantomime enabled the students to become aware of their surroundings and be vigilant at all times.
The valuable session concluded with a vote of thanks by Acting Principal, Ms Sukhmeen Kaur Cheema who praised the entire crew of Jagran for conducting a value-based session for the Indianites.

The students appreciated the new knowledge they had acquired and promised to be cautious. They also volunteered to educate everyone at home so that each one stays alert and informed as watchful citizens.
