Annual Exhibition -2019

The Indian School-Second Shift held the Annual Exhibition on Saturday, November 30, 2019. As customary it helps ingrain in the children, a rational and creative attitude and to comprehend the interdependence of science, technology and society with a hands’-on experience. The Exhibition seeks to engage students and teachers to synergise experiences and motivate one another to design and develop something novel.

This time the exhibition was based upon  the School’s belief in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) synergising creativity and sustainability in  the same flow. The students of  classes I toVIII eagerly participated in subjective projects collaborated with a thought to use recyclable or upgraded versions of the scrap items available at home and School.

“Necessity is the mother of Invention”, Following the above pursuits, students of TFS demonstrated their models with aplomb demonstrating a need for change in the perspectives through which we view our surroundings and allocate resources for reuse, recycle, and reduction.

The occasion was graced by School Chairperson, Mr Prafull Goradia, Vice – Chairperson, Dr Nayana Goradia , Principal of The Indian School, Ms Tania Joshi and Development Advisor, Mrs.Susan Thomas.

The programme was inaugurated by class 3 students singing “Swagatham” followed by a fusion dance carrying a lesson for the parents and visitors  on the consequences of burning the residue of crops. Students coordinated various performances like – a recitation of the all time favourite Macavity Cat by T.S.Eliot, an enactment of Alice in Wonderland, a nukkad natak on water conservation, a Kavi Dastangoi, etc that left the spectators filled with awe! An earnest involvement, appreciation and positive feedback played a key role in keeping students high spirited in their presentations throughout the show.

The Citizenship counter was flooded with appreciation of the unique products which were made of upcycled materials.

Linking the exhibition enthusiastically to the theme of the Sustainable Development Goals, the students created beautiful models and artefacts. The bright and colourful displays, games and models by the students of the primary wing added to the vibrancy of the event. The students’ pride and joy was evident from their interaction with the guests. Models on grey water recycling, desalination plant, 3D Printing, Sensor enabled housing and non-conventional sources of energy were the highlights of the exhibition.

The Annual Exhibition was an incredible accomplishment and received appreciation by all. It was a platform for students to diversify and extend their learning not only beyond books, but also to acknowledge the inventors, actors, poets, artists and scientists that are hidden somewhere within, with a vision to explore the world.
