Each year, The Indian School - Second Shift selects a theme that runs spirally and synergises the entire School community. The carefully chosen theme offers a curriculum that balances excellence in learning, alongside the holistic development of each child. Teachers across various disciplines, whether math, sports, art, dance, or language, creatively weave this theme into their curriculum during the year. These efforts culminate in a grand magnum opus at the School's Annual Day/ Annual Exhibition/Jugalbandi, etc.
There has been a lovingly chosen assortment of themes in the years gone by — Latin America, States along the West Coast of India, Africa, States along the East Coast of India, the European Masters, Delhi Meri Jaan, The March of Time and, most recently, Reclaiming My Planet.
The theme for this year, “I am the Change I Want to See”, encapsulates the powerful idea that personal transformation is the driving force behind a luminous and more compassionate world. Inspired by the success of the School's Citizenship Programme, this philosophy emphasises the individual's responsibility to embody the values and qualities he or she wishes to witness in the broader society. It underscores the profound impact of personal growth on collective progress, fostering a community rooted in kindness, understanding, and positive change.
Through the theme, We, at The Indian School - Second Shift, will bring together a great fabric of subjects, to highlight how belief in being the change that one desires, reflects a commitmentto shaping a betterworld from the inside out.
The students shall explore this theme forthe next two years and across all disciplines. It will be the subject of the Environment and Literary Weeks, the Annual Exhibition (art, science and mathematics), Jugalbandi among other events at School.
The students shall delve into the theme through various imaginative and innovative activities. Engaging in the ethos of "I am the Change I Want to See" will involve a multifaceted approach to personal and societal betterment. Commencing with self-reflection, students will identify areas for personal growth, followed by an ongoing commitment to education through staying informed about global issues. Volunteering time and skills to community projects and charities shall allow for direct involvement in addressing societal needs while initiating kindness campaigns to spread positivity.
Ultimately, this mantra will catalyse a ripple effect by fostering self-awareness, empathy, and positive actions within oneself, motivating others to follow suit.
