Sarvodaya Diwas and Grandparents Day 2024

"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
                                                             Mahatma Gandhi

‘Sarvodaya’ refers to a movement started by Mahatma Gandhi, which propagated the idea of universal upliftment, the development and progress of all. The Indian School – Second Shift observed Sarvodaya Diwas on 1 October 2024. This occasion was observed on the basis of the ideals of truth , non – violence, service and sacrifice.

School invited its grandparents and honoured them, seeking to link the timeless lessons of the past with the missions of the present and the responsibilities of the future.

The event commenced with the welcoming of the grandparents by Headmistress, Ms Sanjeeta Roy who acknowledged the gathering with a welcome message filled with endearments and gratitude for the extended ‘The Indian School – Second Shift’ family.

Our tiny tots began their programme with a beautiful dance performance which mesmerised everyone. The event continued with the singing of the Saraswati Vandana, an invocation to learning. Thereafter a beautiful Gandhi bhajan touched hearts and uplifted the soul. This was a reflection to express gratitude to all our dear grandparents.

Next, a Hindi skit presented the cherished bond that we share with our grandparents. It also recalled the devotion of Gandhiji towards his motherland.

A game followed with an opportunity to showcase the talent of our grandparents. Life experiences, memories and stories were shared by some of our elders which were valuable lessons for us all.

The occasion concluded with hearts kindled with joy. All our guests thanked School for the joyous event filled with learning for the students. The values carried down the generations by the precious bond with grandparents were reiterated at this glorious celebration.
