MEGA PLASTIC COLLECTION DRIVE at School between 17 November to 10 December, 2021

Dear Parents,

Greetings from The Indian School-Second Shift!

A clean environment is a human right like any other. It is, therefore, part of our responsibility to others to ensure that the world we pass on is as healthy, if not healthier than we found it." - Dalai Lama

Committed to creating a Clean and Green School, The Indian School-Second Shift is making continuous efforts to sensitise our students, staff, parents, and the community at large about their role in maintaining a clean and healthy environment through various programmes. We have undertaken several initiatives to generate awareness among school children and the community towards environment-related issues of concern, through various activities organised by School.

Environment awareness and consciousness are well reflected in our teaching-learning strategies. As we know, plastic is a new generation material that is irreplaceable and should be therefore used judiciously and recycled. To continue with our endeavours, School is glad to announce a Mega Plastic Collection Drive in collaboration with ICPE ( Indian Centre for Plastic in the Environment) from 17th November to 10th December 2021. The Indian Centre for Plastics in the Environment (ICPE) set up on the recommendation of a task force constituted by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF), is a body registered under the Societies Act on January 27, 1999. It is a nodal agency recognised by the Government of India to handle all issues relating to plastics and the environment in the country.

To make this collection drive, a school wide and community outreach programme to restrict plastic being sent to landfills and junkyards, we need the collaborative efforts of parents, teachers, and the student community.

We invite the parents and students of The Indian School-Second Shift to be on board with us for this noble cause of environment conservation and put significant effort into making our School, the community, and the city a sustainable place to live in. Remember there is no Planet B.

Participating students shall receive a certificate from ICPE.

The Mega Plastic Collection Drive is starting on 17th November and will end on 10th December
